Another edition of the Gdańsk regatta with Grupa Azoty
The Nord Cup Gdańsk regatta is an annual celebration of every sailor thirsty for healthy competition and unique experiences on the water. From June 24, 2022, for 17 days in the marina of the AZS Centralny Ośrodek Sportu Akademickiego, both beginners and
and advanced athletes.
The most popular regatta in Poland, as in previous years, enjoyed great interest, as evidenced by the number of registered crews and individual participants
from the country and the world. Athletes brought their boats to the water of the Gulf of Gdańsk to be able to actively participate in the event of a high sports level and test their skills on a difficult and unstable water basin. This season the weather conditions were extremely changeable and often led to the interruption of races.
16 yachts took part in the first inaugural Nord Cup 2022 B8 Race. The Polish flagship regatta unit "I love Poland" repeated the success of last year, reaching the finish line at 04:48 in the morning with a time of 9 hours 46 minutes and 24 seconds, standing on the podium and thus setting a new record.
Over the next days of the regatta, which lasted less than three weeks, we admired the starts of 27 classes, including Nautica 450, Delphia 24, Finn, Hobie Cat 14 and 16, Star, FWF, Vector Sails Cup, Micro, Corsair or the Neptune Amber Cup race, all from the shore of a beautiful beach in Gdańsk's Górki Zachodnie. The sight of yachts of various sizes, colorful sails, catamarans, or even boards with a kite or sail attracted not only sailing enthusiasts. In recent days we have been watching the struggles of the youngest sailors of the Optimist class. Immediately after takeoff and sailing into the bay, the weather conditions changed. Despite the increasing strong wind and rain, everyone coped with the challenge and reached the shore safely.
This year's edition of the regatta placed great emphasis on taking care of the surrounding nature, taking specific actions to engage participants to care for the natural environment. The use of reusable bottles and nets, segregation of waste, not wasting "food" and regenerative meals, the action of cleaning garbage from the beach are just some of the tasks encouraged by the organizers. Therefore, as a partner of this event, we are proud that we can jointly undertake pro-environmental efforts, ensuring that our world allows you to catch a clean breath not only at the seaside.
Huge congratulations to all participants of this year's regatta. In the next sailing competitions, we wish you favorable winds and thank you for a successful sports partnership!
